Live In Grass Valley, California
The heart of Grass Valley is the historic downtown that dates back to 1849, when gold miners first arrived in the area. The classic Gold Rush era buildings center around Main Street and Mill Street, where you will find the Historic Holbrooke Hotel, the Del Oro Theatre and the Center for the Arts. Grab a beer at the oldest continuously operating saloon west of the Mississippi, and walk a few blocks to a movie in a beautiful art deco theatre, or a concert of a favorite local artist.
Grass Valley has casual and fine dining opportunities aplenty. Whether you're looking for a traditional Cornish Miner's pasty or a mimosa and breakfast on a beautiful brick patio, you'll find it. The very walkable downtown area is also home to various wine tasting rooms, local boutiques, and antique shops.
One of Grass Valley's crown jewels is Empire Mine State Historic Park. Dating back to 1850, the park has over 850 acres of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails as well as mining exhibits and equipment, historic buildings, and living history days. Enjoy stepping back in time at one of the oldest gold mines in North American history.
The streets of downtown Grass Valley are home to the Thursday night Farmers Market and Cornish Christmas. The Nevada County Fair, Music in the Mountains Brewfest, and the Holiday Craft Fair also visit the fairgrounds every year.
Be sure to experience this historic town and all that it has to offer.
